Tested and tried...
Ya'll, this past week has been something else. So, a group of ladies and I went to the Extraordinary Women's Conference in Lynchburg this past weekend. We had our tickets and house booked since March. Let me tell you about the spiritual warfare that was taking place, the enemy was seriously getting on my nerves!
We were all excited and booked the house for an extra day. All week before I was trying to secure someone to take care of my dog. It was not working and I thought they may have to go without me. None the less, we went down Thursday and it was a little over a 3 hour drive for us. When we pull up there is a very long driveway and it is full of holes and the holes are full of water. There was a fence on both sides and there were brier bushes alongside. So you couldn't go around it. One of the ladies had scratches on her car trying to get through there!
We finally make it to the house. We knew that it had been classified a historical site but ya'll, oh my goodness. In all fairness the house had the makings of a wonderful retreat space...but it certainly was not there yet. The third floor had hornets and believe it or not it had holes in the windows. So we couldn't use one room and the bathroom up there. Thankfully the second floor was okay, but we had bugs there too! The one bedroom on the first floor had a spider infestation and one of the ladies got bit twice and ended up at urgent care! A few ended up sleeping in the parlor the last night. Ants got into our muffins in the kitchen and when we opened the fridge and freezer the shelves had been removed! There were mirrors everywhere you turned and even the infamous photo above the fireplace in the dining room in which you felt the eyes were following you. I personally got sick and almost did not even make the second day of conference. We totally dubbed it the Amityville horror house and left immediately after the conference!
Now that I've told you what the enemy did, let me tell you what my God did...
We went down that driveway anyway. 12 women gathered around a huge dining room table and were able to laugh and bond over what we were experiencing. The fellowship that was intended still happened between a group of women that usually didn't! The scratches to the car can be buffed out. We didn't have our muffins... but we did have bagels! The two ladies that went to urgent care missed one act and not the whole thing and the spider bites are healing! A group stayed behind and I started to feel better and got to go. We heard the Word. We worshiped together whole-heartedly, hands raised. We prayed and broke bread together. We already look forward to next year because what we experienced through Christ far outweighed the darts that the devil was throwing!
That's what I am talking about...that's my King!! Praise the Lord! How good is our God?! That is the story of our lives right? The enemy is always lurking around the corner, but, he has nothing on Jesus! That victory has already been won. We just have to learn to walk in it!
In Grace,
🤎 K
This week's song is perfect for what we went through and how we handled it, and it happens to be from the artist that provided the concert for us Friday evening at conference! Such a good concert!
